The total amount of social logistics in China in the first five months of this year was 13.87 trillion yuan
Beijing, June 29 (Xinhua) — The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing released data on the 29th showing that from January to May, the total social logistics volume in China was 13.87 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.3% calculated at comparable prices, indicating a stable recovery trend in logistics demand.
Entering May, the overall logistics operation in China remained stable. The growth rate of logistics demand is stable but slowing down, but the structure is optimized. The growth of industrial logistics is stable, and the recovery of consumer logistics for people’s livelihoods is accelerating. From January to May, the total logistics volume of industrial products increased by 5.6% year-on-year. Driven by both industrial upgrading and policy efforts, the logistics demand of the vast majority of industries maintained resilient growth in May. From January to May, the total logistics volume of goods between units and residents increased by 6.4% year-on-year, indicating that the demand for logistics of goods between units and residents has expanded under the policy of exchanging old for new consumer goods and the holiday economy. New consumer formats such as live streaming sales and instant retail are becoming increasingly mature.
In May, logistics service prices generally stabilized. Major express delivery companies experienced rapid growth in their express delivery business volume in May, but their single ticket revenue generally decreased year-on-year. From January to May, the focus of the investigation was on a year-on-year increase of 6.5% in business revenue of logistics enterprises. The profits of logistics micro entities are basically stable, and the main operating indicators are running steadily.
Overall, although the growth rate of logistics demand has slightly slowed down in May, the resilience support of industrial logistics, the rebound of consumer spending, and the expansion of green logistics have formed new driving forces that basically offset the impact of imported international logistics. From the perspective of logistics supply, the optimization of transportation structure, the improvement of warehousing and logistics turnover efficiency, the stable operation of international cross-border logistics, and the systematic and collaborative enhancement of comprehensive logistics operation efficiency.
Analysis suggests that with the strengthening and expansion of policies such as equipment updates and trade in, equipment manufacturing and consumer logistics are expected to continue their upward trend, and logistics demand is expected to remain stable within the year. The business activity expectation index in the logistics prosperity index has remained in the high prosperity range of over 55% for three consecutive months. The logistics market in areas such as intermodal transportation and low altitude economy is expected to improve. In the next step, logistics supply and demand still need to develop in a coordinated manner. By deepening innovation in logistics organizational models and other means, we can further improve economic operation efficiency and strengthen the stable support role of logistics in the supply chain.
